Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lucky Strike Entertainment.
Operations Manager
I applied online and got a call back pretty quickly to set up an interview. They were actively hiring for a new center, which seemed to speed things up. I interviewed with an HR Manager who liked my qualifications and wanted me to come in for a group event the next week. I said I was free and he said he'd be in touch. I didn't hear anything back until 12:20 am the day of the event with the details, expecting me at 9:00 am that morning. Obviously, I didn't see the email until 7:00 am and figured they'd already chosen other candidates since I hadn't heard back the night before. It was disappointing they didn't seem to value candidates' time or work-life balance. Even though the company felt like a good fit, I'd have to think hard about reapplying or accepting an offer.
- Can you discuss your previous work experience and the responsibilities you held?
Operations Manager
When I arrived in person at the center looking for a part-time position, the Center Manager told me that the Ops Mgr position was just vacated and they were looking for a replacement. She thought I might be a good fit, so I met with the Region Mgr who was already present. The Region Mgr mentioned that the DM was flying in that day and asked if I would meet with him that night.
- Tell me about your past experience in the bowling industry.
- What other skills or talents do you possess that would be beneficial for this role?
- After hearing about AMF's background and objectives, what are your thoughts and opinions?
Operations Manager
You'll usually have about 3 interviews. First, a recruiter chat, then an interview with the district manager, and finally, a chat with the GM you'd be reporting to. Expect typical guest service questions. Oh, and they do a drug test and a background check. The whole process is pretty fast.
- Were you responsible for hiring decisions in your previous role?
