Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lucid Software.
Data Analyst
There were several interview rounds, but they were scheduled close together to speed up the process. The recruiter was very quick to let me know if I was moving on to the next stage.
- Were there questions regarding the company's values and competencies?
- Were there questions around common business principles?
- Were there SQL questions?

The interview process felt unusually long for an individual contributor role. I applied in mid-February and had my first recruiter conversation in mid-March—delayed because the original recruiter missed our scheduled meeting (I later found out they left the company). After following up multiple times, I finally received a rescheduling link two weeks later. I completed five out of six interview stages, including a take-home SQL assessment, a cultural fit discussion, a business case review, and a 30-minute presentation on a past project. After the fifth round, I was informed that I was "overqualified" and had more experience than the team was looking for. It was unclear why this determination came so late, after nearly two months and multiple rounds of interviews, given that my experience was clearly outlined on my resume and salary expectations were aligned early in the process.
- Can you share an instance where you resolved an issue using data?

I did a take home SQL test, then had 2 phone interviews. After that, I had a remote 2 part video call for the 'traditional interview questions' of the worst kind, which were sent in advance. The first part involved asking some of the questions from the list, and the second part was a case study. I stopped the process here, but I think there were 2-3 more rounds of in-person interviews scheduled.
- Can you share an important accomplishment that led to a change in how work was done?
- Tell me about a project you enjoyed so much that you became deeply engrossed in the work.
- Describe a problem you identified and took the initiative to solve.
