I emailed my resume to the professor seeking a graduate student. He then contacted me and asked some questions about my bachelor's degree. We discussed the project and his expectations, and I expressed my interest. He mentioned that my admission would depend on my TOEFL and GRE scores, so I took those tests and performed adequately. Following that, it was mainly paperwork and a visa interview.
