First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LP Building Solutions.
Field Marketing Representative
It took them about 3 months to get back to me, which was a long time. But after that, the process was good, the people were friendly and things moved quickly once they saw my resume. The job involved driving a trailer around, which wouldn't work with my apartment setup.
- Do you have prior experience in the forest products industry?
Data Scientist
This was the worst interview experience. The first round was supposed to be a conversation about my experience and some technical stuff, according to HR. But it turned out to be a coding round. I tried to ask for clarification, but the interviewer just made things more confusing and seemed like they didn't know what they were talking about. There were two interviewers, a DA manager and a data engineer. The DA manager mentioned her father worked at LP for 20 years and she's working there now. Her camera was off the whole time. It was unprofessional and rude, and I wouldn't want to work in that kind of environment.
- Can you describe a data science project you worked on at your previous job?
Sales Coordinator
The whole interview process took about 2 months. About a month after applying, I had a phone screening with HR. Then, two weeks later, I had a zoom interview with a supervisor. Two weeks after that, I had a panel interview with my potential coworkers. They said I'd hear back by the end of that week. I waited a week after that date and then contacted the HR person. Two days after that, they told me it would be another week. It took another two weeks from then to get a denial from the company.
- Standard interview questions were asked in the first two rounds.
- The peer interview involved few questions and seemed more focused on team culture fit.
IT Solutions Architect
So this interview was kinda weird. First, I had a phone call with the hiring manager, and they liked me. Then they wanted me to come in for an in-person interview. I told them I travel Monday-Thursday and am only in town on Fridays. But the recruiter was like, can you come in this Monday instead? They wanted to move fast. So I had to change my travel plans, bought a new ticket for Tuesday, and lost a day of contract pay to make it to the interview on Monday. Normally, an interview finishes before lunch, or you at least chat over lunch if it goes longer. That didn't happen here. It was four one-hour sessions from 10 AM to 2 PM with six different people, no breaks or lunch. The job didn't seem that challenging, and the work environment sounded pretty chill based on what people said. They didn't offer me the job in the end. They told the recruiter I was 'technically excellent' but gave some weak, subjective reason for not hiring me. Apparently, they also didn't hire the other person they interviewed for the same job. They definitely weren't serious about hiring and just pretended by pushing me to change my plans, costing me $400 for a new flight and lost wages. I've never been to an interview that cost me so much money. It was a total waste of my time and money. It only cost them $4 for parking. It felt like they were just fishing for information at my expense. Super unethical and unprofessional, especially for a huge company.
- Can you describe a challenging situation you faced at your current job and explain how you handled it?
