The interview process felt quite automated, starting with an online portal and an email. The actual interview was online and lasted about an hour. I met with three people simultaneously on screen – a director and two managers. They each asked their own questions. It was a pretty standard Q&A about processes, organization, and tools.

There were quite a few interviews, and the background check step took a really long time and was pretty involved, especially considering the nature of the role I applied for. On the whole though, it was a good experience. I would suggest looking into the current hiring procedures.

It was a 2-phase interview. The first phase was a 30-minute meeting where I was asked 10 questions by a panel. The panel included the branch librarian, an adult services librarian from the library system, and another staff member who could provide insight into the position and work environment. They asked standard questions to gauge my time-management, problem-solving skills, approach to customer service, and my reasons for being interested in the position. After they finished their questions, I had the opportunity to ask them any questions for the remaining time. The interview felt formal but relaxed, and all the panel members were open when answering my questions.

After an initial HR screening, I had a call with the hiring manager for the department. That was the only interview I had, and then after they checked my references, they offered me the job.
