The interview had a panel of people from the district and financial aid. HR gave me a financial aid topic to prepare a presentation on before the interview. After I presented, the panel asked me questions about my job experience and skills.

I interviewed for a Business Systems Analyst role at the district office and it was a panel interview. It felt unprofessional to not hear back after the interview. The director said they'd follow up in a week, but nobody ever did, not even a quick email. I followed up several times, but still no response. It felt disrespectful of my time and effort and left me hanging, which was annoying. It also made me wonder about how they communicate and if they are a reliable organization.

My hiring process included two interviews. The first was with a committee of 12 people, and the second was with the college president and two senior administrators. The committee interview had about 12 questions, and then I did a teaching demonstration. Each committee member asked one question. It seemed really important to answer every question completely and concisely. The interview with the college administration was tougher. They asked difficult questions, which I think were aimed at what they saw as my weak spots from the first interview.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Most questions were expected, and the President asked the hardest ones, mostly about how I would interact with other faculty.

They had me write an essay on how I'd tutor someone, then review a student's essay for about 15 mins. After that, the Writing Coordinator played the student and we did some role-playing where I tutored her on her essay, while her Instructional Assistant took notes. I think they talked about it later because I got hired the next day over the phone. When I asked the IA if I was ready since I hadn't seen many experienced tutors, he said I did so well in the interview he thought I was ready.
