It took months to get through the process, but the interview with HR was really simple. They asked about my career plans and then for some examples of how I'd respond in certain situations. It was very clear and straightforward, no tricks. The only downsides were the long wait times to get an interview and the fact that hiring is on hold in some areas.

The interview itself was pretty straightforward; they really want to hear your thoughts on student safety and how you'd handle a scenario where kids made a mess in a borrowed room and your supervisor called you out on it. The hiring process, though, took way longer because of all the background checks they have to do, like fingerprints and things like that, considering it's LAUSD and they can't just hire anybody.

There were 2 interviews total. The first one was an online coding assessment. You had to close many different applications, like chats and other browsers, and keep your webcam on the whole time. You were given 2 coding questions and could use Google, but couldn't copy any code. The second interview was with 2 people who asked behavioral questions and graded you on a scale based on where they thought you placed as a candidate. If you passed, you were put on a list of valid candidates for hire, and you were eligible for 3 years, but it didn't guarantee any offers.

In the LAUSD Special Education interview, you will discuss your enthusiasm for helping students with different needs and your experience with IEPs. The panel will likely ask about your special education methods, particular teaching approaches, and how you manage diverse student challenges. You might also get hypothetical situations to assess your real-world responses. Afterwards, the team will let you know about the next steps.
