Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Summer Scholar
I chatted with them at a college career fair. They called me that night to schedule an interview. The next day, I interviewed on campus with a panel of engineers.
- Can you discuss your research?
Intern
It was an online interview with two interviewers. They asked about my background and then had me write a short essay about my experience. I gave a good response and talked about my relevant experience.
- Can you tell me about any relevant courses or experiences you have?
Intern
It was a video interview where I spoke with the department head and my potential project mentor. We mostly just chatted about the position itself. I found it pretty straightforward as long as you're upfront about your skills and how much you can handle. Definitely do your homework on the role and ask a lot of questions so you know what you're getting into.
- What are your thoughts on the proposed project topic and what relevant past work experience do you have?
