Flew cross-country for an interview for a data/analytics position in San Diego. Was told I would meet the hiring manager directly. I rearranged my schedule during a business trip in Washington, D.C., and flew to San Diego for this meeting. To my surprise, the hiring manager didn't show up. Someone else from the team filled in at the last minute and did their best, which I appreciated, but it was awkward and unprofessional. I still did my best, as it was one of my strongest interviews. There was no follow-up, no feedback, and no acknowledgment of the inconvenience. Later, I found out the person who interviewed me had already left the company, and no one else was assigned to handle the process. Pros: The substitute interviewer was professional and respectful. The discussion was meaningful despite the chaos. Cons: The hiring manager never attended. No communication or apology afterward. Zero follow-through or structure. Overall, I flew across the country and rearranged client meetings for an interview the company wasn't prepared for. The lack of coordination and accountability made it one of my most disappointing professional experiences.

The interview process was phenomenal. It had a lot of components. Initial phone screening, followed by a panel interview, personality assessment, followed by 2 additional 1:1 interviews. It sounds like a lot but start to finish, it was done in under a week.

After the initial contact, the rest of the interview process was not ideal. They seemed disorganized, and a senior person who joined the interview spent more time discussing their own experiences rather than evaluating me. The process felt a bit chaotic. While I understand that unexpected things can happen, it would have been better to reschedule than to proceed in a way that felt out of sync.

I had two interviews. First, I spoke with the Talent Development Director. Then, I had my second interview with the CFO. The whole thing was pretty relaxed. When I got there, the receptionist, Daisy, was super nice and easy to talk to.
