The HR person seemed professional but was not prompt with her response. She was asking resume-based questions and about the core values of Loram. She then asked me about immigration status and declined me on those grounds.

I heard about Loram from a friend and went to the career center to apply. After waiting a week or two, a recruiter from Hamel, MN came to interview us. There were about 15 people for the available positions. We had a large group interview where they explained what Loram does and the nature of the work using videos and slides. They emphasized that if you don't want to travel 100% of the time, this job isn't for you. The interview then moved to 1-on-1 sessions where they asked about our skills and why we wanted to work there. We were told the recruiter would be interviewing all week and if we didn't get a call by Wednesday, we wouldn't be getting one. I didn't get a call, so about a week later, I called him back to ask if I should reapply. He said he had called me, but I didn't answer. He then offered me a position, which I accepted. I was on a plane to Hamel, MN within 3 days. All travel is by plane, and the work schedule is 4-6 weeks away followed by 2 weeks unpaid at home.

First I filled out an application online and got a generic email that they got it. About two weeks later, I got another email to do an online assessment with some general questions and math stuff. A week or two after that, I got an email to come to an interview at the local unemployment office, and it said to arrive early because the interview can take up to two hours. At the interview, they first did a group presentation and then had one-on-one interviews. The whole hiring process can take up to a month and two weeks, so it's best not to quit your current job right after the interview.
