Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lonza.
Laboratory Technician
The interview process was a bit lengthy. It started with several online screening interviews. The communications suggested these required preparation, but they turned out to be repetitive 5-10 minute meetings where they just told you they were putting you forward to the hiring manager. On the plus side, they did give an idea of what to prepare for the in-person interview. The actual interview was alright; they asked me to go through my CV and then asked some follow-up questions. After that, there were a few more standard competency and motivation-based questions, and it finished with a very basic maths test. They also included a lab tour.
- Can you share an experience where you faced a significant challenge and how you dealt with it?
- What is your understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)?
- Could you walk us through your resume?
Calibration Technician
The first interview was via Teams in English, and it was a progressive interview. The application process is handled through the English company 'Workday'; they contact you via email to schedule an appointment. The good thing was that I could suggest a date, and they were surprisingly flexible. There was no phone number for Lonza itself or for HR.
- Tell me about your experience as an instrumentation technician.
- What are your thoughts on working a 5-shift system?
Manufacturing Technician
It was a pretty straightforward interview process. After an initial phone screen, there was a one-hour interview. The people I met with were really nice and talked a lot about how you can grow within the company. A lot of their work involves cell culture, so they really focused on aseptic technique during the screening, and also on your ability to mentor.
- Tell me about a time you worked effectively in a team.
- Share an example of your experience with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
