Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lonza.
Principal Scientist
My interview with Lonza was a letdown because it felt really impersonal and disorganized. It kicked off with an AI screening, which lacked a human touch and made me feel like I wasn't really valued. What was even more disappointing was the lack of follow-up from the recruiter after talking to a person. They laid out clear timelines for feedback and next steps, but they didn't stick to them. I was told I'd get updates, and I followed up myself after not hearing back within the promised time, but still, no communication. This lack of openness and responsibility created needless worry and made the whole candidate experience look bad. At the very least, Lonza recruitment should honor their commitments and just send an email to let candidates know what's happening, considering the time and effort we put into applying.

Senior Scientist
It was a general background check with recruitment, not the technical team. The process was good and efficient using their online platform. The meeting was set up in advance, and they asked me about my CV and experience.
- Could you elaborate on your relevant experience?
- What are your salary expectations?
- What aspects of this position are you interested in?
Scientist
After I applied, the recruiter emailed me a couple of days later to set up a 30-min call. Then, a week after that, I had a 30-min call with the hiring manager. Once I passed that, I did an online video presentation for the entire team, which included top executives. They said they'd let me know after they discussed it. I followed up twice over 4 weeks because I didn't hear back. The first time, they told me they hadn't decided, and the second time, they just ghosted me. No offer, no updates. The whole thing took way over a month and a half for a job they needed filled fast. I really wish they'd just tell people yes or no instead of ghosting.
