First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lonza.
QA Specialist
We had a panel interview with the supervisor, manager, and a senior specialist, followed by an HR round. The questions were pretty straightforward, aiming to check my grasp of GMP concepts and my overall quality mindset. They also asked about my background in review, the technologies I'm familiar with, and how I'd go about spotting and assessing potential problems. Standard questions about workplace behavior were included too.
- In your own words, what does quality mean?
- Could you elaborate on your background in quality assurance?
- Which technologies are you acquainted with?
QC Specialist
Started with a recruiter call to screen basic requirements like salary, visa status, and notice period. Then had a Teams call with the hiring manager to discuss the role, expectations, and plans. The process was quick, efficient, and straightforward.
- Can you describe your experience with LIMS CSV aspects?
- Would you be open to working on-site?
QA Manager
I had an HR Interview, then a Hiring Manager Interview, and then an Interview with another colleague or a panel. Generally, the interviews aren't tough at Lonza and the work culture is great, which is why I keep applying. However, I find their hiring process to be disorganized and exhausting. I applied for 14 positions at Lonza, mostly similar roles, and felt I had the required experience for all. I was rejected without consideration for 8, and went through 1, 2, or 3 rounds for the remaining 6. Despite receiving good feedback and being told they liked me, I wasn't selected after an average 2-month process. One of these 6 might still offer me a position. At this point, I'm done applying for permanent roles at Lonza, though I had a good experience as a consultant before. The company seems to have a significant employee shortage but a terrible hiring process. It's frustrating to be told I meet all qualifications and then wait two months only to be rejected. Lonza needs to fix this! I feel like I know the entire QA department in Visp now.
- Can you provide an example of a time you used the STAR method to showcase your experience?
- Could you explain how your background fits the requirements of this job?
- Tell me about your experience and how it relates to the demands of this role.
