Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lonza.
Associate Director
The talent acquisition process was messy. The team set up a phone screening interview where the interviewer didn't even turn on their camera. This company has a mandatory 5-day in-office policy for accounting/finance roles, which is strange given that leadership is spread across the country and globe.
- What is your earliest possible start date?
Associate Director
I had a chat with the recruiter, but after checking out Glassdoor, I decided not to continue with the rest of the interviews. The recruiter was super helpful and really nice to talk to. The location itself isn't in the greatest area, though.
- Can you tell me about your background and what makes you want this particular job?
Associate Director
I've interviewed with them twice last year and once recently. They seemed rushed, doing a bunch of interviews with different seniority people because the role was urgent. In the latest one, I mentioned I had two offers coming, and they pushed me to interview anyway, saying they really liked my profile and the role was urgent. After the interviews, they said they'd offer me the job... then ghosted. It was pretty toxic to find out they treat people like this, especially after I took time to prepare and interview during my final MBA week. Now I get why they have such high turnover.
- What key skills do you possess that would benefit the organization?
- Can you provide examples of your experience managing teams and meeting tight deadlines?
- What are your career aspirations?
