First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Longwood Gardens.
Plant Grower
I got a phone call to confirm my availability for a ZOOM interview about a month and a half after I applied. They were cool with whatever times I could do on ZOOM and the interview went fine when I talked about my past work at greenhouses, both in and out of Uni, and other internships I did while getting my Plant Science degree. We chatted about trade terms, tasks, and control methods, but I never heard back about a second interview. This happened three times for three different Greenhouse Grower jobs. They haven't replied to my emails, and I'm really bummed about Longwood Gardens' lack of communication. They could at least send a rejection email, but they never do.
- Could you tell me about your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
- Describe a time a previous job presented a challenge, how you dealt with it, and its impact on you.
Image Scanning Technician
I started by filling out an online application. About two weeks later, I got invited for an in-person interview. It was with the HR director and the head librarian. They asked a bunch of questions, mostly about soft skills. The whole thing took about 35 to 40 minutes. I think there was an initial recruiter call before that though. I'm hoping to get an offer soon.
- Could you describe what your ideal job would be?
Event Coordinator
The initial interview was about 30-40 minutes long, involving HR and the Director of Events. Unfortunately, we never heard back from them afterwards. The director didn't seem very organized. They mentioned the role was mainly administrative.
- What makes you think you'll leave in 6 months?
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What's your motivation for wanting to work at Longwood?
Guest Service Associate
I submitted my application and then went through an interview with two managers. The whole experience was quite straightforward. The interview lasted around 30-40 minutes, and I received an offer within two weeks of completion.
- Can you share an instance where you faced a challenging client interaction and explain your approach to resolving it?
