First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Long & Foster.
Graphic Designer
The interviewer was really odd and seemed desperate. They wanted me to sign an agreement before we could even discuss salary, and they got annoyed when I didn't sign it right away, even though there were errors in the document that I wanted to fix. They were also really vague about the work schedule and benefits, just saying things like 'we can talk about it later' when I asked about time off or if working remotely was an option. I ended up declining the offer, as you can probably guess.

Admin Assistant
I had an in-person meeting with the new area manager. She was really nice. We did a tour of the office, and she explained the tasks and expectations in detail. I also took a computer skills assessment. She answered all my questions.
- How would you assess my computer skills?
Realtor
An office was merging into a bigger one. The interview was more like a meet and greet and setting goals for the upcoming year. The office manager asked about your desired income, then helped you figure out how much business you needed to do to reach that goal. They asked about your SOI and how you planned to reach out to them for leads. They also gave tips on farming and SOI contacts.
- What's the income you need to cover your budget, and what's the income you'd want to have, covering both budget and extras?
- Did you create a list of your friends, family, and other acquaintances? This is your sphere of influence, and a lot of your business will probably come from them.
- How much money do you need to make to cover your expenses and wants?
Marketing Coordinator
The recruiter was super helpful and responsive at first, and I really liked talking to her and the rest of the team during the second interview. I thought I did well and answered everything perfectly, but then the recruiter totally ghosted me. I get that it's a tough market and economy, and maybe I wasn't the right fit, but it's pretty bad form to leave people hanging. I hope they get better at letting applicants know what's up for the future.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join our company?
- Could you share instances where you managed multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously?
- Describe your approach to communicating with various stakeholders.
