& Process

I applied and about a week later I had a ~30 minute phone call with the technical recruiter. It was nice talking to her. I talked a bit about myself and my experiences. She asked me why I chose LCS, what I knew about LCS, and then told me a bit about the company and what they do. After that, I got set up for a 1h interview with a senior developer, which also went well. He asked me to tell him about myself, so I explained my career path, some of my projects, college, and internship experiences, and my programming language experience. There wasn't any live coding or whiteboard stuff, but he did ask a few algorithms questions to see how I thought about and discussed problems. We also talked about the same things I discussed with the technical recruiter, like 'What do you know about LCS?' and 'Why LCS?', and he talked about what LCS does and their products. Everything seemed to go really well, but then over the weekend I got an automated rejection email from their HR team late on a Sunday night. I suspected maybe the job posting had expired and a generic rejection email was sent, but that wasn't the case because I emailed the technical recruiter the next day asking for feedback on my interview, like what they liked and didn't like about my candidacy, thanking them for their time. I haven't heard back since, so I just left it at that. It was pretty strange and I felt a bit disrespected because of the abrupt, cold ending. Both the technical recruiter and senior developer seemed to like me, so I don't know why the ghosting happened. This could have been a 'Positive' experience instead of 'Neutral' if not for the weird ending.

I got an interview call after LCS visited our campus during a career fair. A few days later, I had a chat with a recruiter. They asked about my past internships and projects, especially those involving C# and .NET. They then scheduled an onsite interview for me at their new office within two weeks. The onsite involved three parts: a paper test on SQL where I had to write join queries, an interview with a technical manager for about 45 minutes focusing on C# concepts, and another technical interview where I had to split a CSV file without using built-in split functions, followed by some basic behavioral questions. I assume the next steps are background check and then an offer.

I applied online and shortly after got an email asking to set up a phone interview. The call was about 15 minutes and they asked some basic questions about my background and why I was interested in LCS. They then asked if I could come in for an in-person interview. When I got there, I had a quick 15 minute assessment with questions on accounting and computers while I waited. I was able to answer everything based on my college accounting class and computer background. After the assessment, I had the main interview where I talked about my past experience and accomplishments using my resume. This lasted about an hour. Then, I got to speak with a manager who asked about my previous job and history. Finally, I also got to chat with the CTO for a few minutes. I got an offer call within two hours of finishing the interviews.

The whole interview process took about 2 hours. It started with a 15-minute assessment that included very basic questions on accounting, computer science basics, and databases. I completed about 80% of it, and they actually gave me less than the allotted 15 minutes. After that, I spoke with one of the managers and then other team members, who were all quite friendly. The last person I interviewed with was the COO, who asked about my future plans and reviewed my CV. Throughout the process, they didn't explicitly mention anything they were unhappy with. I haven't heard back in about 3 weeks, so I'm assuming it's a rejection.
