Software Engineer
Meetings kept getting pushed back or flat-out cancelled, and nobody really told us why. They also didn't get back to us super fast, which made it seem like they weren't really that into hiring. The people interviewing us seemed kinda arrogant, like they already thought we were wrong and they knew everything. They didn't really ask any good questions to see if we could actually solve engineering problems. It felt like they didn't have much real-world experience, just book smarts, and lacked empathy. They kept cutting us off when we were trying to answer, so we couldn't finish our thoughts. The first question was just out of the blue about AI stuff, felt like they didn't have any original ideas.
- Tell me about AI implementation at your job and what the results were.
MIS Executive
It was a good interview. The people were friendly, but they didn't negotiate well. The questions were simple, but tough since I was a fresher. It's a medical industry, so phones aren't allowed inside, even while working.
- What are your capabilities with Excel functions and formulas, and can you share your prior experience?
- Could you discuss your previous experience and knowledge of Excel functions and formulas?
Systems Administrator
Interviewed with HR first, then a group interview. The group interview had 4 people and was pretty awkward with silences. One interviewer made a sarcastic comment about my resume mentioning my time as a 'stay at home dad' which I used to explain an employment gap. I thought their sarcasm was really unprofessional. They went through my whole resume, picking holes instead of focusing on my skills. They also mentioned the position is due to a 'reorganization,' which is a red flag for me given there are so many sys admins on the team, making you feel like you're just a number that can be discarded. I wouldn't take the job even if offered. Also, not much diversity here.
- Can you explain any employment gaps on your resume?
Technical Support Analyst
First, I had to complete a long job application, which felt like a lot for what turned out to be a 3-5 interview process. They wanted to know, for every job I listed, what my employer would say was the reason I left. This felt like a weirdly negative question. The Hiring Manager spent most of the Teams interview asking me why I wanted to leave my last job, rather than discussing the role they're hiring for. It seemed like he was just trying to find flaws in my answers to that one question. He came across as uptight, stressed, and negative, and didn't smile at all.
- What's the reason you're looking to leave your current position?
- Can you tell me what your previous employer would say was the reason for your departure?
