A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn and we had an initial call about the position. Then I had a video interview with the department manager that lasted 45 minutes. The manager asked questions about the role and then technical scenarios. The next day, the recruiter gave me feedback, saying I wasn't qualified for the engineer role but could fit a lower role in managed services. I declined to pursue the managed services role because I'm looking for design and implementation work, not support. I've seen companies hire people for lower roles and then keep them there, taking advantage of their skills without helping them move to their desired position. It's a job seeker's market now, and I don't want to be stuck in a role again. I'm looking for other opportunities where I can grow my career as I want.

A recruiter reached out and we had a quick intro call where they told me more about the role and we talked about my background. Then, there was a phone call, followed by an onsite interview where I met a diverse group of people from the company. Everyone seemed really enthusiastic about the company and answered all my questions. The recruiter was super helpful and responsive the whole time. Overall, a great experience!

the recruiter kept reaching out about needing to interview more people. I was told I was the furthest along and had to wait for other candidates. Then I was ghosted. Oddly, I received a survey right after my interview. A few things bothered me besides being ghosted. I asked about benefits early on and they were secretive. This is a dealbreaker for me. If the health insurance isn’t good, I’m not interested. This was a remote job, but because I was only 90 minutes from NYC, they encouraged me to come in. They hired someone in Texas.

I applied online and heard back pretty fast. First, there was a 30-minute phone call, then four 30-minute video calls that felt like a panel. After that, no one got back to me, which was a bummer. A quick email would've been nice to know I didn't get it. The questions were mostly the same for every call. Good luck to everyone else applying.
