Content Marketing Manager
After a typical screening call, I had stakeholder interviews. I was really interested until they revealed that I was one of five candidates asked to create a 90-day content plan for a fake cyber solution, due the next day, which was Good Friday. This felt like a lot of work for a 20% chance, so I chose not to proceed. If I had completed the 90-day plan with defined personas, key messages, sample sales enablement content, distribution channels, and more, plus a video presentation pitching it, that plan might have been repurposed. I felt the ask was excessive for just a skills assessment.
- Can you describe the types of content you've created for product launches?
SOC Analyst
It started with an HR interview, then a technical interview, and finally a meeting with Management. They asked about my previous jobs, my education, and if I had experience with security tools like SIEM solutions (Splunk/SumoLogic), cloud and network IDS solutions, and SOAR platforms. They talked about their platform, SentryXDR, and how their SOC team is structured. You can find a lot of this info on their website, along with their core values.
- Can you tell me about your past work experience?
- Could you share details about your educational background?
- What experience do you have with SIEM solutions such as Splunk or SumoLogic?
Managed Services Engineer
I was contacted by headhunters for the company and then interviewed with the talent review team. The first interview went really well, but they misplaced the manager I was supposed to speak with, so I had to hang tight for a few hours before they could confirm a second interview. The second interview was with the manager I'd be reporting to, and it was held on Zoom a few days later, though he was late to join.
- Can you list some port types along with their names?
- If DNS is working on two machines but not a third, what could be the issue?
- What are your career aspirations at this moment?
Marketing Manager
The interviewers were pleasant enough, not overly friendly but polite. My only gripe is that if a candidate invests time in researching your company and preparing for an interview, the least you could do is send a notification when the position has been filled. There was absolutely no acknowledgement. I'll definitely remember this treatment if I ever need a vendor in your industry.
- Could you describe a marketing campaign that you were in charge of?
