It was a super chill, laid-back chat. The team was really nice and seemed genuinely curious about me and my projects. We spent a good amount of time looking through my portfolio, and they asked me to walk them through my projects so they could get a better feel for my work.

While adding extra hoops for candidates raises the perceived difficulty of job interviews, it also slows down the hiring process, which can lead to costly hiring delays and candidates lost to the competition. Before adding additional layers to interviews, it’s important for employers to assure that each new screen actually helps identify great candidates, and doesn’t just make interviews harder without any offsetting benefit.

I met with the recruiter at the ANN office first to discuss my background. About two weeks after that, I had a phone interview with a manager on the LOFT team. It was a pretty standard behavioral interview. The following week, I was given a case study assignment, which I then presented in person to the same manager. The recruiter was great throughout the whole process - very professional, helpful, and kept me in the loop.

The interview process involved some initial questions about me, then I had to put together outfits on the spot and justify my selections, and also mention who or what inspired my outfit. It's really crucial to dress like you're already a shopper there because that shows you're invested and will help you sell better if hired. Being really friendly and good customer service are also key.
