First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Locus Analytics.
Syntax
I applied online after seeing a post on my school's career website. Two weeks later, I had a phone interview, and then a Skype interview a week after that. They asked me about my academic interests, my previous internship experiences, how I work in a team, my strengths, my weaknesses, and how I'd classify the economic role of a certain commodity.
- Can you explain a complex concept?
- Can you explain a complex concept?
- Tell me about your academic interests.
Intern
The first round was a phone interview with basic behavioral questions, really digging into why I'm interested in Locus. I heard back in 4 days for the second round. This one was also behavioral, and they didn't suggest any prep. Everyone seemed to be from top schools. The culture sounded like it's hard-working and smart, but since it's a startup, people are more willing to take risks.
- What drives you?
- What makes you want to join Locus?
Data Analyst
There were several phone interview rounds. They asked technical computer programming questions, as well as general quantitative situational questions. A big focus was on me explaining my thought process while coding, how I came up with my solutions, and why I selected those particular ones.
- Can you tell me about your experience with general data processing?
- Walk me through your thought process when you're coding.
- Describe how you reached your solutions.
Summer Analyst
Horrible experience. The guy interviewing me was the absolute worst. He obviously hated interviewing and maybe even his job. He asked basic behavioral questions and said "interesting" after everything no matter what I said. Told me we'd be in touch but failed to communicate after the interview. The recruitment process should be treated as a reflection of the company and I am truly disappointed.
- Are you more of a leader or a follower?
