Software Engineer
I applied for a summer Jr software engineering internship but ended up being offered the full time Jr software engineer position. The interview process is for the internship: - 45 min initial Microsoft Teams conversation with a Program Manager about the company, role, what the candidate is looking for, their profile... - 1 hr panel interview with the engineer mentoring the incoming intern, Program manager, and a principal delivery manager. Technical and behavioral, how do you approach your work as an engineer and a team member - Offer for FTE. To my surprise, they liked me enough to offer me the FTE role which I would have been eligible for upon a successful internship.
- Tell me about a time you disagreed with a coworker or team member.
- Do you have debugging experience, and how do you approach it?
Sales Consultant
I was initially very excited to interview with Critigen for a Sales Consulting/Territory Manager position. However, I was disappointed almost from the beginning with what an earlier company review (Dec. 26, 2010) described as an almost narcissistic detachment from one of the SVP's that I interviewed with. After several screens with the company recruiter, phone interviews with two senior managers and a 1:1 wiht the SVP in person (where I was asked if I would take a contract position instead of the previously discussed salary/variable comp) the company goes dark. After supplying a presentation, I was met with no returned VM's, zero email responses and one assistant that told me that the SVP had was headed to the airport for vacation. This was the same day that I was told an offer would be sent. The last straw was the day (almost 90 days + after the initial contact) that I was finally able to get the recruiter to return my call with an email (nice, huh?) and she told me that the position was not being filled. The SVP then returned my call to him later in the day, yes another email, to tell me that he has filled it with another candidate.
- Would you be open to a contract role, as a "try it before you buy it" situation?
- Can you immediately bring contacts from your existing book of business, along with vendors and partners, into our pipeline?
Project Manager
Applied in November, had an HR interview quickly. Moved to the next round with the hiring panel. After the interview, they said I was a 'perfect' fit but went with someone else and wanted to stay in touch. They reached out again in January for another role. Interviewed again, told I was a 'perfect' fit but they weren't hiring until March. Said they couldn't give more info but would reach out. I emailed 3 weeks later for an update and they said they went with an internal candidate but there MAY be another role opening if I'm interested. They wasted my time and strung me along, it seems like they never intended to hire me.
- Can you describe your experience with industry tools?
- How do you stay current with Esri products?
GIS Technician
Had an initial phone screen and then a zoom interview. The interviewer seemed really genuine and excited about my experience. They talked about growth opportunities and how I would be a good fit. I was told I'd hear back within 3 days either way, but then got ghosted. If this is how things are run, I guess I dodged a bullet. It was a total waste of my time.
- Could you tell me about your biggest weakness?
