Software Engineer
It started with a small take-home task sent by email, doable in a few hours. After that, a standard coding interview via Skype. If that went well, they invited me for an onsite interview. The onsite involved a mix of design questions (I got one), coding questions (we had an in-depth discussion on a data structure), and a larger, more complex version of the initial take-home task, which I had about an hour and a half to complete. The overall experience was good, and the engineers focused on my problem-solving approach. So, even if the problem is unfamiliar, keep trying; they'll offer some assistance.
- Focus on system design questions. Study how to construct scalable systems.
- The tasks involve getting data out of multiple JSON files, which you can consider as database tables.
- You should be prepared to handle this task in a language good for file handling, like Python, which I used.
Sales Engineer
Had a good initial call with the Director of Sales Engineering. The recruiter messed up the time, so I was 30 mins late. We talked about the role and what they need, plus my background. They wanted me to do a presentation to show my skills. Then, there was a second call where the Director pushed hard for my current salary, saying I was untrustworthy because I wouldn't share it. I mentioned my target salary a few times, and he said he'd been doing this longer than me. I told him I was fine ending the conversation. Despite the awkward salary talk, I did the presentation for the Director, and it went well enough that he set up a call with the VP of Sales. The VP started the call by saying he knows other companies hiring and could pass my info along, which felt like a strange way to start. I got a really bad vibe about the company overall.
- Can you tell me what your current salary is and what you've earned previously?
Customer Success Manager
I applied for the Customer Success Manager role and got a phone screen. Then, I was invited to meet 3 people at Localytics. After that second interview, they suggested I start on the Technical Support Team to ensure my success. This led to two more phone interviews for that position, followed by another in-person meeting with 3 people. The interviews themselves were pretty straightforward, mostly asking about my experience and ability to handle specific scenarios. Following the fifth interview, I was told I'd hear back in about a week to a week and a half. I sent a follow-up email immediately and another after a week and a half of no response. It's now been 3 weeks since my last interview, and I still haven't heard back. I found the whole experience really unpleasant and unprofessional.
- Can you share a significant challenge you faced and how you navigated it?
Account Executive
Applied and was contacted by the Recruiting Coordinator, who set up a call with a recruiter. This call focused on my research and background selling SaaS. Then I was invited in for an in-person interview with a director and a rep, which focused on my sales background and understanding of the space. Overall, it was a solid interview and I felt I represented my skills well.
- A lot of focus on the App ecosystem and my experience selling.
