I got to the last stage of interviews at the company, which was onsite. However, I never heard back from them after the interview. It would be nice if they could get back to candidates after they interview.

I'd recommend interviewing here even though I didn't get an offer. The team has great engineering, product leadership, and values design, which is why the role is open. My hiring manager screening was with Jordan Bramble (cofounder). I showed him my portfolio, and we had a great chat about three of my projects. I then went for an in-person onsite interview. They even had a whiteboard with my name and encouraging messages on it! I met with the PM, then Engineering, Operations, and finally Jordan again for a whiteboard session. The whole thing went by fast. Everyone was friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Jordan also sent me feedback when I asked, which really shows the leadership and people there!

I was scheduled for about two and a half hours of interviews, but they cut it short after I talked to the COO. The recruiter came in and said they weren't continuing. First up was the COO. He immediately asked why I was a minute late, even though I left early and hit unexpected traffic, then had to climb four flights of stairs because the elevator was broken. During our chat, it was clear they're struggling with basic IT stuff. I gave clear answers with examples using available tools on how to get things done. I've got experience with everything they're aiming for in retail, plus over 20 years in IT. For some reason, the COO either didn't read my resume, which is pretty straightforward about my experience, or he has a really narrow idea of what he wants. I think if the interviews had gone on to the other three people, they would have seen how my skills and experience could really benefit them. I asked the COO about the expectations for the role, immediate short-term IT issues, and long-term plans. He gave very brief, vague answers. He was pretty curt and abrupt with me the whole time.

I had a phone and zoom interview first, then I went to the office and interviewed with several staff members for four hours. One interviewer was arrogant and argued about labor law, and I had more experience in the gray areas of how agencies actually handled things. He was condescending and left the interview. Then I interviewed with the CEO, who was serious and resistant to my solutions for his current problems. He asked odd questions like, what's the worst thing that's ever happened to you? It was inappropriate.
