First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LMS, Inc..
Systems Administrator
Had a quick chat about my background and what I've done. They looked at my skills and knowledge for the job. Talked about what the job entails and what I'd be doing. Some questions were about how I handle situations, but mostly it was about technical stuff and what I know.
- Can you describe a project you recently completed successfully?
Project Manager
I put my application in with my cover letter and resume for a gig I saw on Craigslist. The week after, I came by to introduce myself and give them a copy of my resume. I got to the 3rd floor and they greeted me nicely. They sent me up to the 6th floor to meet the person who was looking through the applications. Again, they greeted me with a smile and made me feel welcome. He told me my resume really stood out from the 200 he got and that he had just given it to the CEO that morning. He said it was a good idea for me to come in and put a face to the resume. He said I'd hear back in a couple days. I got called in for an interview just like he said. I met with the CEO and CFO. The interview was super conversational, so I felt relaxed. I wasn't scared to let my personality show. I made sure to have a few copies of my resume and references ready.
- Given your extensive background in accounting, what prompts your transition to marketing?
- Considering other candidates may possess more direct experience, what makes you the best hire for this role?
Business Analyst
I saw the job posting on LinkedIn and sent in my resume with a cover letter. That same week I got a call back which included a brief 10-15 minute phone screening. Questions were about my experience and ability, along with a few about influences and inspiration. They said they would review my answers and contact me later in the process. A couple of days later, they emailed me about scheduling an in-person interview over lunch. They were very accomodating about date and times. I met the interviewer at the office, and we went to lunch. This was a very casual interview. They were really looking for people to join the work family, and this interview was about getting to know me as a person, not just resume bullets. We talked about why I was looking for a new job and what my career aspirations were, but then we talked about TV shows, hobbies and how we met our spouses. Then my interviewer told me they would be in contact soon. A couple of days later, they scheduled a web meeting with the CEO. He was just as welcoming as everyone else, and made me feel as comfortable as one can be when interviewing with the CEO of a potential new job. This interview was brief, the CEO wanted to get a feel for me before offering me the position. Said he would talk to his team and get back to me. A couple of days later, I received an email from the CEO officially offering me the position.
- Why are you looking for a new job?
- What are your career goals?
- What books/mags/blogs do you read?
Scrum Master
I had a phone interview for the Scrum Master role. They asked some basic questions about Scrum and agile. The interview itself was pretty easy. I didn't get an offer though. They were good with communication and let me know about the rejection via email within 3 days.
- Can you list the various Scrum Events?
