& Process

It was tough and complete with multiple stages and steps including pre / post interviews with multiple managers of the different functions. Knowledge of techniques (use cases, user stories, functional / nonfunctional requirements), elicitation methods, writing clear requirements, managing scope

Started with an HR screen, then got a take-home project on Github which took about 5 days. If they liked that, I had a Skype call for a code review and they asked basic questions about my code choices. After that, it was an on-site interview at their Ann Arbor office. The on-site had three parts: talking to the dev team, then the director of development, and finally the product managers. They asked general questions about my history and interest in the company. No whiteboard coding, which was a plus. However, the actual experience they wanted didn't match the job description, and I lacked experience with some of their tech stack. It felt like the take-home project wasn't a good indicator of what they really wanted. I think I got rejected after following up, they said they had a list of candidates and would update me, but then never did. This lack of closure, especially after weeks in the process, was frustrating, as was the mismatch between the job posting and the reality. It's an interesting company domain-wise, but their candidate communication isn't great.

The whole interview thing lasted about two weeks. First up was a 30 minute phone call where we talked about my past jobs, why I was interested in LLamasoft, and I got to learn more about the role and the company. Then, for the first on-site interview, I met with five people from the HR department. They asked me real questions about my experience and told me more about working at LLamasoft and being on the HR team. The next interview was the following week, where I had quick chats with the Talent Acquisition Manager, the HR Manager, and the COO.

I applied online and the whole process took over a month. The first round was a phone interview with HR, which was pretty short and just a couple of questions to see if my background fit the role. Then, about a week later, I had a second, more technical round. This one was a Webex interview with video. It was very professional and technical, focusing on supply chain knowledge and SQL/Excel skills, with about five questions in total.
