It started with a recruiter phone call, then a hiring manager phone call. After that, I had a take-home coding assignment which was then discussed in a call with two senior engineers. They told me I was moving on to the finals after that call. The finals were set for the next day, but the day after that, the recruiter said they went with someone else and cancelled the finals, and the role was taken down. Two weeks later, the job was posted again. I emailed them and was told I lacked the 'technical expertise' for the management position. I thought, wait, I passed that technical round and they scheduled finals, so what happened? And was there really another candidate?

I got an email from the recruiter, and we chatted on the phone. They then set up a call with the hiring manager. The manager completely no-showed the first time, giving zero heads-up to either me or the recruiter. So unprofessional. We rescheduled, but then they were late again for the next meeting... We actually started the 30-minute call about 12 minutes in. No apology for the prior no-show. Very early in the video call, they were clearly talking to someone else, looking away, making faces, nodding, and smiling. They didn't even look at the camera until I stopped talking. I waited until they finally noticed the silence and asked if something was wrong. They said, "Oh no... I'm listening." Clearly, they weren't, or they wouldn't have waited so long after I stopped. They also had their hand on their face a lot, like they really didn't want to be there. They asked about 7 questions and were done asking with almost 10 minutes left. My actual interview was 8 minutes, and the rest was me asking them questions, but they seemed to want off the call.

The interview process spanned about a month, during which I interacted with a great group of people. The recruiter was super helpful and kept me in the loop. Everyone else was really friendly and seemed genuinely enthusiastic about the company. The process involved a recruiter phone screen, followed by a call with the hiring manager, then a video chat with a Product Leader, and finally, three separate interviews in one day with various team members.

It started with a phone screen, then a 30-minute chat with the hiring manager, followed by a 30-minute talk with the head of mid-market sales. After that, I had a 30-minute meeting with the director of revenue. The final stage was a two-day panel interview. The vibe during the interviews was pretty chill. I even asked each interviewer if there was any reason I shouldn't move forward, and they all said no. But, they ended up passing on me before the big panel interview without giving a real reason, just the usual recruiter form letter stuff. Kind of a bummer since I'd already gone through like 3 interviews. Felt like it deserved a phone call or at least some actual thought put into the decision.
