Learning Content Specialist
The recruiter contacted me and quickly set up an initial phone call to discuss the job, salary, and company details. Following that, an email was sent to arrange a meeting with the Hiring Manager. A couple of days later, I had a conversation with the People Ops Director. Everyone I spoke with was really nice and helpful. The last part was a group interview and a presentation. The whole thing took about two weeks from start to finish. The recruiter kept me updated and gave me insights.
- Can you walk us through your creative process?
Machine Learning Team Lead
The interview process was really long, like 12 hours total, and felt like they were asking the same things over and over. First, there was a 30-minute HR chat online. Then, a 1.5-hour technical interview on-site. After that, I had to do 3 hours of cognitive and behavioral tests. Then, another 1.5-hour interview where they went over my answers to those tests. They also gave me a 4-hour assignment to complete. Finally, there was a 1-hour interview to talk about the assignment and my test responses, which was also on-site. Even after all that, I heard nothing for over 7 weeks, no updates at all. It was repetitive, like they asked technical questions, then gave a technical assignment, and then asked more technical questions later. Also, I talked about my personality for 1.5 hours in one interview, and then again for 30 minutes discussing those same behavioral test answers.
- Lots of questions that didn't seem to be about the job at all. Also, the interview process itself was repetitive.
- Many irrelevant-to-the-position questions. Also many redundancies in the interview process.
Software Engineer
So, the company reached out to me to apply. First up was a recruiter call, a standard chat about my experience and general stuff. The recruiter mentioned they were pretty flexible and as long as you knew the basics of Software Engineering, they'd help you pick up things like Scala. About a week later, I had a technical test. Turns out, they weren't really looking for a Senior Software Engineer, but more of a Scala expert, even though they had my resume and knew my Scala experience was limited. No questions about design choices, tools, or software design considerations. It was basically a pointless whiteboard session to see if I knew all the language's quirks. The interviewer was really condescending, almost rude, especially after I told him I wasn't expecting this kind of interview based on what the recruiter said. I heard back the same day – they weren't moving forward with me.
- Was there a question about validating Sudoku grids?
Customer Success Coordinator
The interview process was quick, starting with a phone screen, then an onsite interview with a three-person panel. One interviewer was aggressive and didn't seem prepared, not even looking at my resume. The other two were more professional and engaged well with my answers. They said I'd hear back early the next week, but they called to inform me they were moving forward with another candidate. It was an interesting way to let someone go.
