Portfolio Manager
The interview process was efficient and easy. Communication from live oak was always seamless, and they made sure to not waste any time on either side. Questions were more to make sure the candidate would be a good fit for the culture at live oak and not just focused on technical abilities.
- Why do you think Live Oak Bank is different from other banks?
Production Support Engineer
It was a 3 round process, mostly focused on culture fit. Some technical questions came up, mostly going over my qualifications. The second round was a panel interview where they asked about production issue resolution scenarios. The third round was with the director.

I had a virtual Teams interview that seemed to be going well initially. Most of the questions were about my previous work, asking me to elaborate on my resume. However, midway through, they mentioned the internship was based in their North Carolina headquarters, which wasn't in the job posting that advertised it as remote. This felt pretty misleading, and on top of that, the pay was below industry standard for my experience. It might be a good chance for a first internship, but probably not worth it if you already have some experience.
- What are your goals for this internship?
Senior QA Engineer
I applied for a contract-to-hire role. The first interview was supposed to be with technical leadership, focusing on experience and cultural fit, but it turned into technical questions. Thankfully, I was prepared and moved to the next stage. I was a bit disappointed that no cultural questions were asked. They also asked me about my 10-year career goals, which felt a bit out of place given the current global situation, but I answered as best I could. The second interview was with the automation team, involving a deep dive into my experience and technical questions. They claimed there were no right answers, which seems untrue since I didn't get the job. I usually ask for feedback after interviews, but it wasn't helpful this time, and I didn't receive any useful feedback after my rejection either. The interviewers seemed unprepared. On the plus side, I really liked the management team; they were straightforward with their feedback, and their past experience was impressive, making me think I would have enjoyed working on their projects. On the downside, I'm not a fan of companies that prioritize personality over skills. During the first interview, they mentioned, 'There are a lot of people with the skills that aren't here today,' which I found discouraging, diminishing the effort put into learning and growing in my career. They liked my personality enough to advance me, but I feel for others who might be more direct.
- Where do you see yourself in ten years?
- Tell me about your experience.
- What is your experience with automation?
