First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Little Trees.
Business Applications Manager
A recruiter reached out about a role that wasn't posted anywhere. The process involved a take-home assignment with coding questions in Excel, SQL, and a language of choice. This was followed by an on-site interview with three back-to-back interviews, the last one being 1.5 hours long. I was supposed to hear back in a week but didn't, so I had to email HR and the recruiter. Only the recruiter responded, stating they passed due to a lack of attention to detail. It's frustrating because I took time off work for this, and the assignment, while thorough in checking for AI generation and including tricky validation questions, felt like it was picked apart excessively.
- What's your approach to communicating with users who aren't technically savvy?
Rotational Program
I applied for the job and about a month and a half later, I got a call asking if I was still interested and letting me know they were scheduling interviews. Almost a month after that, I got another call scheduling an interview for a few weeks out. The interview had a written assignment asking how I'd try to boost sales for Silly String and I had to prep a 15 min presentation comparing Little Trees to a competitor. I met with the company president, who was nice and professional. The questions were mostly behavioral, not too tough, and it lasted about an hour. They said I'd hear back in about a week. Two weeks later, I followed up with no answer. It's been about two months with no word, so I guess they hired who they wanted and ghosted the rest. It's wild they can't spare a 3-minute call for candidates who spent a whole day interviewing. That said, I'd still interview with them, but wouldn't expect much communication. They seem to move really slow.

Sales Associate
So I applied online and the very next day, a recruiter called me for a screening interview. It went well, so a few days later, HR emailed me to set up an in-person interview that was scheduled for a couple of weeks out. They also gave me an assignment to complete beforehand. It was a bit tricky because I wasn't sure how detailed they wanted my answers to be. The in-person interview itself lasted about two hours. I met with three people: someone from HR, a team member, and my potential manager. The conversations were great – they were all really friendly and easy to talk to. They asked me about my assignment, my past experience, and my skills. I felt good about my experience and thought I had a strong chance. They said they'd let me know in about a month, which I figured was because the hiring manager was traveling. A month later, I heard back that they enjoyed meeting me but decided against moving forward because I didn't have a specific skill. It was a bummer because that skill was listed as 'nice to have' during the application and interview, but apparently, it's a requirement now. Felt pretty misleading.
- How has your background prepared you for this position?
Sales Manager
I had a phone screen with HR for this International Sales Manager role. It started on time and the HR person was nice, but honestly, HR interviews are so generic. They mostly just confirmed basic stuff like work authorization, age, pay, and location. I found out the pay was lower than I wanted and they expected relocation to Watertown NY with no help. Also, it's a sales job with only salary, no commission or bonus. The HR interviewer also seemed bored and not very friendly, so it wasn't a fit.
- Are you authorized to work in this country?
- Would you be okay with relocating to Watertown NY, given there is no relocation assistance?
- Do you understand the salary being offered?
