Project Manager
So I interviewed at Litify and it started out pretty good, clear comms and they seemed interested. I liked how thorough it was, gave me a feel for the culture and role. But then after 7 rounds over a month, it went downhill. I put in a ton of time, effort, and energy, even did a detailed presentation, and they went with an internal candidate. It felt like a total waste of my time. Comms got sparse at the end too, which was rough. Then, after telling me they picked someone internal, they sent a survey. Felt like a slap in the face after all that investment and then getting ghosted. Started well, ended poorly, felt disrespected.
- Can you tell me about your background managing difficult projects in legal tech or SaaS? How do you decide what to do first and handle resources when a project has tough deadlines and many people involved? What project management styles do you know, and which one do you like best? Why? Can you give an example of a really hard project you managed and how you got past the problems? How do you deal with project scope changes or unexpected issues that pop up? How do you get your project team to do their work on time and do it well? Tell me about a time you had to sort out a disagreement on your project team. What happened? How do you make sure different teams talk and work together properly? What's your method for guiding and growing less experienced team members? What project management software and tools do you use, and what makes you choose them? How do you know if a project was successful, and which metrics do you watch? Can you explain your strategy for handling and reducing risks in your projects?
Product Manager
The interview process was pretty smooth overall with 4 rounds. It started with an HR screen, then went to the hiring manager, followed by a cross-functional round, and finally a round with the CPO. All the rounds focused on behavioral questions and were pretty straightforward. However, the candidate experience was really negative towards the end. Things moved really fast initially, but then I was ghosted for weeks after the final round. I expected momentum to build with each round, but it took three weeks to get a generic rejection call from HR. I would have preferred a direct email rejecting me if the decision was already made, rather than being strung along with false hope. I genuinely felt each round went exceptionally well, so the ghosting was mysterious, especially going from immediate scheduling of next rounds to complete silence. I hope this was just an anomaly, but it's a major red flag for any potential candidate to be led on like this.
- Could you tell me about your background?
- Describe a situation where you collaborated with cross-functional team members.
- Can you take me through a product you successfully launched?
QA Manager
I was headhunted via Linkedin by a senior executive because my extensive experience dovetailed nicely with what they were looking for. We scheduled a video introduction quite quickly. The conversation went well, although it was quite disconcerting to see the interviewer constantly looking at monitors left and right during the conversation with barely any eye contact. We had what seemed like a good conversation, and after asking about next steps was told they were looking to hire quickly and that a representative from HR would be reaching out. A week later I checked back in via Linkedin and was told that yes, an HR person would be reaching out. Tried a week later and was ghosted. Listen, I'm a big boy and have been ghosted before, but if you're going to maintain your reputation as a professional company, don't headhunt a person, indicate interest and then disappear without the courtesy of a one line "we went in a different direction".
- Can you describe your overall experience?
Technical Architect
So there were 3 rounds and a take home project. The first was just a chill chat with the VP of professional services about my background, the company vibe, and how I think about work. Then round 2 was with a principal technical architect. We mostly talked about my past experience and projects. They also threw in some questions about technical concepts, but no actual coding or whiteboard stuff. After that, I got a take home project. For round 3, I had to present that project and go over the code with the principal architect, explaining why I did things the way I did.
- Could you share some of the projects you've been involved with recently?
