The interview process included an assessment, five one-on-one phone interviews that were each 30 minutes long, and then a group presentation. Beforehand, I did a lot of research on Lithium and its owner, Vista Equity Partners, which helped me prepare. I was really impressed by everyone I talked to, from the recruiter to the C-level folks. They're a sharp, professional, and friendly sales team with great leadership, and it was obvious they put a lot of thought into their questions, which fits their detailed and process-driven sales approach. One VP asked me five questions I hadn't thought of before. To prepare, you should really research Lithium's products, their position in the market, and honestly ask yourself if you'd genuinely contribute here or if you're just looking for any job. This isn't the place for that. It's a serious interview, so don't take the assessment lightly and do your homework before the interviews.

I applied for the role advertised on Lithium's website and LinkedIn, and got a really quick response from recruitment. I sailed through the initial screening with the in-house recruiter. I then started preparing for the next round of interviews, including setting up the times and locations. However, the process stalled for about a month or two, and then I was told the position was on hold because of a headcount freeze. I had prepared quite extensively to meet with the VP, and my main concerns about the proposition were how sticky and engaging Lithium is and what the client renewal rates are. Looking at a lot of the online communities I tracked during this time, they didn't seem to be buzzing with members or fresh content (e.g., Virgin, BarclayCard).

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The HR person reached out for an interview and it was a good experience, very professional. Then I spoke with the VP of Sales, who was also great. After that, I met with the Customer Success Manager, who was nice and smart. Things were looking up until I had a meeting with the Chief of Sales. He had a hard stop after 30 minutes and was late to call. He spent most of our time grilling me about my sales numbers from 2011-2013, which weren't even on my resume. He gave off a bad vibe and really killed the positive energy from the earlier chats. I did make it to the presentation stage, but I didn't get the offer because my presentation wasn't great. I think I didn't put as much effort into it after the conversation with the Chief of Sales, so I get why they didn't pick me. After reading reviews, I probably dodged a bullet, and the Recruiter even mentioned it's been an issue for them before. It seems like this is a recurring problem with Vista Equity sales roles. I won't consider them again and will advise others to do the same.
