First, I had a chat with the recruiter, then the hiring manager. Everything was on Teams. The hiring manager didn't show up initially, so I let the recruiter know. It turned out the hiring manager had the wrong time, but we eventually did the interview, though it started over an hour late.

The entire interview process spanned about two months. It started with an initial HR call where they laid out the interview structure. This was followed by an interview with a team member, then a meeting with a senior manager, and finally a concluding interview with the director. The questions focused on my background and past work. A recurring question in almost every round was about my personal connections that could be leveraged for immediate lead generation and market development. This raised a concern that they might prioritize immediate personal networks over strong competency for long-term local market growth. The questions about working overtime on weekends also hinted at the company culture, especially given that the current team members are recent graduates. While they seemed responsible initially, the HR teams across different regions (Singapore and others) weren't aligned on salary and contract negotiations, providing conflicting information. This ultimately led to the offer being rescinded. It felt like a complete waste of time. For a fast-growing company, their hiring strategy seems unstructured and short-sighted, primarily focused on pushing for an IPO rather than long-term development.

Behavioral Technical Case

HR did a quick initial screening call after I applied on LinkedIn. After that, the following interviews were kind of slow and late. The first interview was supposed to be with the Hiring Manager, but he was late, so I ended up talking to a peer who had just joined and didn't seem to know what to ask. The second interview was with the Hiring Manager again, maybe to make up for him being late the first time. Then I got a take-home assignment. The interview before the last one was supposed to be with middle management, but it was the Hiring Manager again since the others weren't available. By then, I had two offers, so I had to turn down a final peer interview.

The interview was really well put together. It started with introductions, some questions, and a brief walk-through of some online tools. Then, I had to do a live demo lesson where the interviewer pretended to be a student, which actually made the lesson go smoothly. After that, they gave me some really useful and practical feedback, the kind you only get from having solid experience teaching online. I'm still waiting to hear back since I just finished, but win or lose, it was a good experience and I feel like I picked up some new things.
