I got an interview from a third party. The recruiter didn't give me the job description. The firm didn't really match my skills, but they seemed really short on staff.

I interviewed with two Audit Managers. They introduced themselves and asked common interview questions like your strengths and weaknesses. They also asked about my expectations for hours at a CPA firm, to make sure I'm good with the long hours during busy season.

I applied online and then the audit manager called me a few days later to do a phone interview/screening that lasted about 30-45 minutes. If they liked my background, they called me in to do a bookkeeping test and meet with two managers in person. I thought I did well on the interview, but the test was quite hard and had two parts: bookkeeping and questions about me. I bombed the accounting part because I wasn't ready.

I got an email to set up the interview and they were flexible. I went to their offices and met with two partners. It was a long conversation, but they were nice and not intimidating. I got the offer quickly.
