This was a really tedious process for a company that, in the end, won't pay a decent senior engineer salary. It was long and I didn't get much clarity on what the actual work would involve. Felt like they were just trying to get information out of me.

I found the whole process to be an enjoyable one. At each stage (I had 6 remote face-to-face interviews), I was speaking with very smart and very interesting people and having some great discussions from very different perspectives. Everyone I spoke with was happy and able to confidently answer the questions I had for them and each of them asked interesting questions to me, which made for relaxed, conversational interviews. The home test I received was great too. Very relevant to the company and wide enough that it allowed me to demonstrate my skills from a variety of perspectives.

I went through over 5 interviews and spent a lot of time getting ready for them and doing a tough case study. In the end, I just got a normal rejection email with a short reason, saying they should have known earlier, maybe after the second interview. They didn't give any extra feedback even when I tried to get more info. What made it worse was being asked questions about my age and family, which felt inappropriate. I suspect these might have influenced the rejection. The process itself was pretty smooth and quick, and most interviewers were nice. No issues there. However, the way things ended soured the whole experience, making it not a good fit with the company culture they show online.
