First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lighthouse Lab Services.
Human Resources
I went through several panel interviews with different team members. It started with a recruiter phone screen, then the hiring manager was the first official interview, and the second interview was with upper management. The whole thing took about 3-5 weeks. The recruiter kept me in the loop the whole time, and everyone I talked to was really nice and easy to talk to.
- Can you describe your professional background?
- What are you interested in?
- What drives you?
Recruiting Associate
I sent in my application online and got a call the very next day about a pre-screen. I did well on that and then met with the hiring manager a few days later. After that, the director wanted to chat, so I met with them about a week down the line. The next step was a culture fit interview with a panel of people from the team I'd be joining. They told me they'd let me know their decision by the end of the following week. It took a few extra days beyond that to hear back, and unfortunately, they decided to go with someone else. The whole thing took about a month.
- What's your strategy for managing your day and staying organized?
- What are your thoughts on cold calling?
Laboratory Technician
It was pretty standard. They asked a couple technical questions and for me to give specific examples. They also asked about how I work alone and in a team setting. It’s also good to talk about which instruments you have previously worked on.
- Could you walk me through the PCR process and procedures?
- Can you give examples of your technical experience?
- Tell me about your experience working independently.
Software Engineer
I had a couple of initial phone calls that weren't technical, but then they just stopped responding. I don't know what happened - maybe they hired someone else or decided not to fill the role anymore.
- Can you discuss your previous projects and highlight your achievements?
- We talked about the upcoming project and asked about your ideas for its future.
- What are your thoughts on steering the project's direction over the next few years?
