The first interview was with someone on the local venue team, not the hiring manager or the previous Venue Manager. It seemed like a basic check to confirm my identity. The second interview was with an HR person over Zoom. This interview was a bit odd because the interviewer seemed very disengaged. They asked standard questions, but then asked about my onboarding goals for the first year (1, 3, 6, and 12 months). This was surprising because we hadn't discussed the company's onboarding, I hadn't spoken to anyone on the venue operations team about current challenges, and I found out the person who did the first interview had left the company. They also asked about salary expectations, and when I gave a market-based answer, they said the range was $70-80k, which felt a bit low for Chicago.

So after a hiatus, I was brought back in and interviewed with the Project Director. This was a bit of a change because the company had restructured and the Project Director had expanded her role. We actually had the interview at a restaurant near where both of us lived.

The interview process was pretty swift and easy! I got hired immediately and started working that day. They briefly asked about my work history and adjustments to a fast pace work environment. Plus, I was able to explore the entirety of the exhibit before working.
