Had a friendly interview process. We went through my CV and talked about what I learned in my previous jobs. We also talked about how I could fit into the team and what I would bring to it. Plus, they asked me stuff like where I see myself and how I'd describe myself.

I had a really nice 30-minute chat with the Principal. Then I did a 30-minute demo lesson with a 5th grade class and they offered me the job right away. The people interviewing me were super friendly, which made me feel at ease the whole time.

I applied online. The Principal emailed me to set up a phone interview, which lasted about 45 minutes and had typical questions. They really focused on how I could teach with 'arts infusion.' Then there was a follow-on interview that got rescheduled twice because the Principal and panel were busy. Finally, I came in for a quick school tour and then taught a model lesson for about 30 minutes to students. They gave me a student learning objective from the Arkansas Frameworks the day before. After the lesson, I had to analyze some data they gave me to show how I work with data. Then a panel of 3 interviewed me (one left early). It was all friendly and low stress, and the interviewers were easy to talk to but professional. They said I'd hear back in about a week, but it took about 2 months.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • I was given some unfamiliar data to analyze for about 5 minutes and then asked to present my recommendations to the review panel.
  • I was asked about infusing arts into lessons. At first it was hard, but then they clarified that 'arts' was a broad term including things like videos, computer work, drawing, design projects, and acting to engage students beyond lectures.

Behavioral Technical

The whole process was totally unorganized. It seemed like they had no idea what was going on and just wanted to hire someone they liked. They asked about experience, and all questions were very generic. However, I think their expectations did not match what the position description described.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Can you tell me about your experience?
