First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Light.
Senior Software Engineer
I withdrew during the tech task phase because I received another offer. The process involved three main stages: first, a chat with a recruiter, second, a discussion with the engineering manager, and third, a technical assessment. While the recruiter and engineering manager were nice enough, I noticed some major red flags after speaking with the manager, particularly their apparent comfort with employees working on weekends, strongly suggesting it's an expectation. I'd advise against this role if you value work-life balance.
- Kotlin tech task: develop a basic frontend-backend service, intended for AI tool implementation.
Product Manager
Had a quick chat with the recruiter first. Then I interviewed with a product manager, followed by a final interview with the founder. All these interviews were kinda weird; nobody showed up on time, and they didn't seem to have prepared anything beforehand. After the last interview with the founder, the recruiter ghosted me, so I couldn't even give them my feedback.

- Where are your offices located?
- What can you tell me about your company's funding rounds?
Warehouse Assistant
It was a calm process, conducted quickly and respectfully. They were trying to understand the candidates and also clarifying the employee's obligations, daily routine, career plan, etc. It was a very good experience! The HR people were super nice. The manager was extremely patient.
- What is your experience?
- Do you have knowledge of the Office suite?
- Do you have a technical course?
Firmware Engineer
I sent my resume in through their site and heard back from HR and a local contact within about 2 days. I then went in for a 2-hour on-site interview where I met with 3 engineers and 1 product manager. They asked pretty basic questions about my past experience, and it seemed like they weren't sure what to ask given the role was outside their expertise. I didn't hear back for two weeks, so I messaged both HR and the engineer to see if I was still being considered. Still no reply after many weeks. Good luck to this startup, they're going to have a tough time if they can't even respond to emails or ask proper screening questions.
- How would you debug the communication issue with I2C?
