The interview process had 3 rounds. It started with a screen by an external recruiting consultant who was persistent. Then there was an interview with the hiring manager and a panel. All video interviews were recorded. They asked very similar questions, suggesting poor internal communication. No feedback was given.

I started with a call from an external recruiter who didn't seem to know much about the company. I still moved forward to an interview with the direct supervisor, which was fine. The next step was a "thought exercise," basically unpaid consulting. Be careful of companies that ask for extensive unpaid take-home assignments. The assignment was specific and seemed like it could be useful to the team. The recruiter said they were very interested, but then I got an automated rejection without feedback. Respect candidates by paying for their work or skipping these exercises.

I submitted my resume online and then the HR manager contacted me for a phone interview. After the phone interview, I was invited for an in-person interview where I met with 3 people from 3 different departments. The interview was about 45 minutes long. All interviewers were under 30. I noticed that diversity is not practiced in the workplace. They asked basic questions, just to go through the motions, as they clearly weren't motivated to hire me because I wasn't in their age range. This shows that diversity isn't practiced in the organization and resume evaluations are very superficial, given my experience. No offense to younger people, but sometimes wisdom and experience are needed for good judgment. I didn't get the job because of age discrimination, as my professional background aligned perfectly with the job description. In my opinion, age was a factor, as I've experienced age discrimination with younger staff.

It was a really cool interview! They presented a bunch of hypothetical scenarios to gauge how I'd handle actual issues their clients face. The recruiter was super friendly and helpful with my questions. They seemed to be looking for candidates who were passionate about and understood the organization's mission. My advice: check out their website beforehand to get a solid grasp of what the non-profit actually does. The team there is awesome and works together great, I'd definitely suggest applying to work with them!
