First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lifetime.
Personal Trainer
The interview process started with a practical session where I had to go through an introductory session with a PT and then try to sell them on the service at the end. After that, I met with the Personal Training Manager, and the questions were more about my underlying motivations and understanding my 'why'. The final interview was with the GM, which was similar to the interview with the PT Manager but went into a bit more depth about details. They were all focused on making sure I would be a good fit for Lifetime.
- Can you share a significant challenge you've faced and how you navigated through it?
Registered Dietitian
I had 2 interviews, each lasting an hour. The first one was with the manager of personal trainers, and the second, 3 days later, was with the current RD. After the second interview, the person I would be working with asked me to go out on the floor, find 3 potential clients, introduce myself as the new RD, offer them a free 30-minute nutrition consultation, and then bring back their names, phone numbers, and emails. It was a bit intimidating, but I did it. The RD just thanked me and said they were interviewing candidates that week and would get back to me by Friday. I was confused about the members I had just promised a free session to. Since then, I've emailed and left voicemails thanking them both, and even went back in person the day after the interview to try and speak with the manager, but I haven't heard anything in a month and noticed the job is posted again. I really hope this means I was overqualified and they were hesitant to hire me, especially since it was a full-time position with 100% commission, and I would have been working evenings and weekends. I thought it would be a good entry-level job in my field, but I'm still surprised it was 100% commission and that they never called or responded to at least say no. The most disappointing part is that I'm a member there, and I expected them to be more courteous.
- How would you approach the initial consultation with a new client, including what you would say and do?
Legal
Got a call out of the blue with virtually no prep for what felt like a full-blown interview. It wasn't a screener, it was with someone from the department itself, not HR. It was about a 45-minute interview with a nice person from the team. Felt more like a chat than anything.
- Can you tell me about a specific organization you were involved with?
- Could you walk me through your resume?
- What interests you about working at Lifetime?
Lifeguard
I applied online and heard back within the first week. My first interview was a one-on-one in person with the aquatics manager. Then, I had a second interview two days later with the general manager. They called me two days after that with a job offer.
