I chatted with the community manager and the assistant manager for the role. The assistant manager was super nice and made me feel comfortable. She was more interested in getting to know me personally, asking questions about me rather than standard interview questions. I felt really good about the company and the property after the interview.

I applied online and then they reached out. I did a phone screen and then an online interview. It was going pretty well and the hiring manager was talking about next steps. But then when I mentioned I'm a single parent, the whole vibe changed. It felt like they weren't cool with someone who needs to be able to be in the office sometimes and work remotely after picking up kids. They asked about my commute to the schools and what times I'd be away, even after I explained. They also seemed annoyed when I said I'd need a week or two notice before any work travel because, again, single parent. Everything was good until I brought up being a single parent. After the interview, they said they'd let me know by Wednesday about next steps, but then ghosted me. They even reposted the job and didn't tell me I didn't get it. A month later, a different recruiter contacted me about interviewing again. Guess they don't communicate well over there since this recruiter had no clue about my previous interviews. After talking to the first person, I knew this wasn't a company that put people first. They never talked about the culture or anything like that, just all about their business and how much they needed a TA partner. It really solidified that they are a business-first place when I mentioned needing some remote flexibility because I'm a single parent. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I wouldn't even want to do business with them personally.

So I applied on their website and got a call for a phone interview pretty fast. The next week, I had an in-person interview with two people from the leasing office. The week after that, I had a FaceTime interview with their regional manager. I felt like all the interviews went well. A couple weeks later, the regional manager was visiting, and we met in person again for ANOTHER interview. They asked pretty much the same questions each time, it was super repetitive. Again, I thought it went great. Then I didn't hear back for a few more weeks and got an automated email saying they were moving on with other people. The whole thing took a couple months and they never explained why it was taking so long.

The interview process was really enjoyable and I had a great time interviewing with everyone. My interviews included many leaders from the home office. I applied, then interviewed with HR, followed by the Hiring Managers. After that, I interviewed with Senior Team Members and then with additional HR team members, before finally receiving an offer.
