First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lifestart Fitness Center.
Intern
I sent an email to the internship coordinator and the next step was a lengthy application. Very long with questions that required extensive answers. The next step was a phone interview and I was brought on.
- What motivates your interest in working for LifeStart?
General Manager
I discussed my job history and past experiences, went over the requirements and expectations for the position, and answered a few questions to gauge my knowledge in the field. I then met with the Director and the General Manager of the facility in person, and also toured the space.
- What makes you interested in corporate wellness?
Fitness Director
The interview process was quite straightforward. They primarily asked questions to understand my experience and get a feel for my personality. I initially spoke with the Director, followed by an interview with the Manager at the location. The entire process lasted approximately one hour.
- Could you tell us about your greatest strength in the health and fitness sector?
Fitness Director
It's all politics. They only hire the people they like. You can be with them for 2 years as a group fitness instructor, and you can have excellent standing. They can send you all kinds of "praise" emails when you do these "floater assignments" and they butter you up and tell you how great you are, but if you apply to be a Fitness Director, and they decide you're not right for them, what does that tell you? This was the begging to the end for me.
