Don't bother applying. The application was long with essay questions, leaving little room for an interview. I called for the interview, but she didn't pick up, so I left a voicemail and then emailed. She called back 15 minutes later. It was awkward, and I felt like I was leading the conversation because she seemed unprepared. I gave her the benefit of the doubt since it was a phone screening. I was rejected and didn't get feedback. She said, "It's natural to want more feedback but I can't offer anything constructive. This is a unique role with a lot of specific challenges to consider." This makes my efforts feel wasted. The job market is tough, and it's unfair to put candidates through this. I think I dodged a bullet.

This was a laughable application process. With 20 years of experience in e-commerce brands in the Northeast, I've never encountered an application like Life is Good's. They require a multi-hour form, supposedly to 'prove seriousness' and ensure 'a human will respond.' It took me over 3 hours to complete. Subsequently, a human responded with a copy-pasted message that even had the wrong name. The lack of inclusivity and accessibility is quite noticeable, especially for a company like Life Is Good.

Applied online and went through a unique application process that took over an hour. The application process is unique because it requires answering open-ended questions that take time. It took me 1.5 hours to answer these questions because I was really interested in the position and felt like I could be a good fit. Then they sent a generic response saying they were moving in a different direction. It's frustrating to spend so much time on an extensive application as the first step, only to receive a rejection. It seems like a screening or phone interview with the hiring manager would be more appropriate than wasting applicants' time from the start.

I was contacted about two weeks after applying and then had a phone interview with the hiring manager a few weeks after that. The interview itself was really laid-back, and everyone on staff was super friendly and welcoming. It's a casual environment where they even let dogs in the office. Even though I didn't get the job, the HR Manager called me personally to explain exactly why they went with another candidate. It was a nice touch, as it seems like nowadays most companies don't even send a rejection email after an in-person interview.
