First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Life Fitness.
Software Engineer
The interview process had 3 stages: first a recruiter call, then a hiring manager interview, and finally a team interview. There was also a technical assessment done via TestGorilla with three parts: coding, technical questions, and behavioral questions. Make sure to carefully review the job description and brush up on basic CS concepts.
- Have you worked with power electronics before?
Software Engineer
The whole thing was super unprofessional, honestly. No wonder they can't find anyone. HR chat was okay, but the next interviewer was so checked out. I even mentioned this was my first interview in a while, and they just laughed and made me feel dumb. They didn't even ask about JS or Node stuff from the job description, which was weird. It was all Java, which is fine, but then they threw in Scala questions, which makes no sense for this role, other than it's also on the JVM. Anyway, I found a place that actually takes me seriously now and I'm doing good work there.
- Can you explain the difference between JVM, JDK, and JRE?
Software Engineer
After applying, I had to fill out an application with some technical questions. Then, I had a phone interview with a Software Engineer who asked me technical questions about the application and programming, with only a few behavioral ones. Next, I had another phone interview with a Sr. Software Engineer focusing more on hardware technical questions. The final part was an on-site interview. I met with a Sr. Engineer for mostly behavioral questions, followed by a group interview with 3 Software Engineers, one of whom I'd met before. They each had different specialties. It began with a case question, and then they each asked their own questions. I also met again with the person from the first interview.
- The most challenging question was a case study involving a robot that detects air quality. I was asked to identify potential hardware and software issues and explain how I would resolve them, with limited time to prepare.
- You might encounter diverse questions concerning applications, embedded systems, and numerous other subjects.
