I had a straightforward screening interview for the Associate Product Manager role at Life Fitness. It became apparent during the interview that the job description on their website wasn't an accurate reflection of the actual responsibilities involved in the position.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

It started with a 30-60 minute screen with HR and then a 60 minute screen with the hiring manager. After that, I met with 6 different people: the Director over the department (who's the hiring manager's boss), the hiring manager again, a Product Manager from the team, an Engineer, another Product Manager from a different team, and an HR Rep. All those interviews were 30 minutes back-to-back. Then there was an hour-long case study presentation to the hiring manager, the team director, and the team's product manager. After presenting the case study, I didn't hear anything from LF for three weeks. Finally, I got an email from HR apologizing for the delay and saying they went with someone who had more technical experience, which honestly wasn't that surprising. My feedback for LF is that they should really call candidates who make it past the hiring manager screening to give them feedback on why they weren't selected. Six hours of interviewing plus the work on a case study really warrants a call from HR with specific feedback, especially when it's been three weeks since the final interview.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

It was pretty long but they really dug in. Started with a quick phone screen. Then I chatted 1:1 with the HR person and the main hiring manager. After that, I spent a whole day interviewing with 7 different people from the team. To wrap things up, I had 2 more final 1:1 meetings with members of the executive team.
