First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LGO Hospitality.
Server
I filled out an application on-site and then went straight into an interview with a manager. It was pretty basic, just four questions. It felt super quick. Maybe because the manager and I didn't really connect. She mentioned she'd follow up within two days, but never heard back.
- Are there any upcoming out-of-town trips that would conflict with your work schedule?
- What are your salary expectations for this position?
- Can you describe your prior experience in similar roles?
Server
I went to the open interview for LGO that was posted on Craigslist, and I got hired. What I learned is that LGO has a lot of people interviewing all the time, but not many of them have server/restaurant experience. If you don't have server/restaurant experience, I honestly wouldn't bother applying. But if you do have some restaurant experience, no matter how little, and you feel confident that you can handle several interviews, then go for it!
- What are your hobbies or how do you spend your free time?
Front of the House Manager
I was contacted after a job fair, and they really liked my experience and background. The interview was extremely informal and I was very comfortable. I really appreciated how they asked their questions and really took an interest in my goals and life objectives.
- Tell me about your worst dining experience and the reasons behind it.
Creative Director
I applied and had a nice phone chat with the Marketing Director, which quickly led to an in-person interview. I went to their headquarters for three interviews that day, and they all seemed to go well. Then, nothing. I followed up a week later to see where things stood, and they asked me to create and submit a sample design project within 48 hours. I finished it in 24 hours and sent in several samples. After that, the company completely ghosted me, and I haven't heard back about the position, whether I was still being considered, or if it was canceled due to COVID-19. It's been two weeks with no response, even after polite follow-ups.
- I was asked how I would rebrand one of their higher-end restaurants to appeal to a broader demographic.
- I was asked for my thoughts on their social media presence.
