Sales Consultant
Great company, two interviews, and then possibly a third interview at a different location if they like you but you didn’t get the first one. The project manager and VP will be present. Also, they might have you interview with 2 project managers, so you don’t have to interview multiple times at different locations.

I got an email from the recruiter, Gabrielle Labriola, to schedule a video interview on Microsoft Teams. It got rescheduled twice before we finally connected. The first interview was casual, asking about me and if I fit their culture. Then, another email from HR sent a link for a DISC assessment, with a note that the team and HR would be in touch about next steps if I passed. A week later, HR emailed again to set up an in-person interview with the VP of Operations, Ron Christian, and Nick Smith, scheduled for three weeks out. I got a couple of email reminders before the in-person interview. The interview itself involved a presentation about LGI Homes, followed by a Q&A session, though they didn't discuss my DISC assessment. I had a few questions too. The whole thing lasted 3-1/2 hours, way longer than I've experienced with other builders. They said I'd hear back within 72 hours, but it took a full week. Finally, I got the standard rejection email from HR. Their model homes aren't really for buyers to see; they're more like offices with tables and chairs. Plus, you have to work every Saturday and Sunday, so no family time. After checking out their homes in Eagle Mountain, I noticed they don't have basements, and they're all spec homes with no customization options for buyers. There's also very little storage. The home quality seemed below average, and reviews about warranty issues from current buyers indicate they're unhappy with LGI Homes.
- Why do you think you're the best candidate for this position and what motivates your interest in this role?
Sales Consultant
The first 20 minutes of the interview involved me being asked unique questions about whether certain words described me. After that, I was given a presentation covering information already available on their website. There were four gentlemen present; Chris, who spoke to me, seemed pleasant, but the other three appeared disengaged from the start. I had invested significant time and effort into this opportunity, preparing a folder with references, a reference letter from a previous CEO, my resume, and cover letter, and had even visited the hiring neighborhood site and spoken with employees. I believed I was well-qualified, given my track record of over 50 home sales in the past 12 months, which is competitive within their company. However, I only received an email response after requesting information weeks later. This experience was disappointing, and they didn't seem to live up to their promises. Ultimately, I'm pleased it didn't work out as I have a better opportunity now. They appear to seek a highly adaptable salesperson whom they can continually support with unusual achievement awards.
