First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LEVEL Studios.
Recruiting Assistant
I applied straight on their website for this entry level position. About a month after applying, I was contacted by their recruiter saying they were ready to move forward with the interview process. We scheduled a phone interview, but the recruiter never called me. I tried reaching out by calling their number and emailing, but only got a response 3 days later on Monday. During the phone interview, I was asked about my past roles, relevant work experience, and if I had sourcing experience. It was pretty standard, and we then scheduled an in-person interview. Immediately after the call ended, the recruiter emailed me to reschedule because he had to be out of the office. Despite seeing the unprofessionalism, I was accommodating and agreed to a new date that worked for him. I then interviewed with the recruiter and two team members. They were friendly and funny, giving off a vibe similar to The Office. The interview felt really easy and laid-back. I thought it ended well, and the recruiter mentioned he would set up a call with their main boss on the East Coast. However, the recruiter has since gone silent, even with my follow-up emails and calls about the 'said phone call.' I think this recruiter is completely incompetent. Level Studios left a bad impression, and I'd advise others to avoid wasting time if they experience similar communication issues with this company.
- Do you know how to use Outlook?
Art Director
The initial phone call felt dismissive, with red flags about the 'agency'. The recruiter read questions from a script, avoided answering any questions citing 'confidentiality,' and was not friendly. She had to confirm they were indeed 'an agency.' Before I could even speak with a hiring manager, she demanded my salary expectations, which felt impossible given how little information I had about the role.
- Rate your Photoshop skills on a scale of 1 to 10.
- What are your thoughts on doing production work?
Senior Designer
The interview process was quick. First, I spoke with the associate creative director. Then, I met with the whole design team, which included the creative director, three art directors, a motion designer, and a technologist. The interview was enjoyable, and the discussion primarily focused on my portfolio and design principles. After the interview, I was given a design test, for which I was compensated.
- Could you scope a marketing campaign for your favorite movie, and suggest advertising tactics for Israel and China?
- The team briefly left the room, giving me five minutes to jot down notes. This was likely to assess my performance under pressure and my thought process, as it's unrealistic to brainstorm advertising tactics for the US, Middle East, and Asia in such a short time.
Program Manager
I applied online and got a call back right away. The phone interview was with two executives and went really well. Then I drove to San Luis for an in-person meeting, and they paid for my travel. It was a great meeting where I got to meet the team and the executives. They made an offer quickly and were easy to negotiate with.
- How do you manage working with a diverse team, a demanding client, and a challenging schedule?
